RUTH SCHMIT

Love of color defines my life. The play of light and shadow on clouds and ocean mist fascinate me.  I love the magical, mysterious hues of roses. I’m constantly challenged to try and express this joy in paint.

Two instructors have a special place in my life: Earl Hazelle, of Portland, Oregon, who taught me palette knife painting, focusing particularly on color mixing and Myron Barnstone, of Copley, Pennsylvania, who instructed me in classical art with strong emphasis on color theory.
