FRED SUTER
I grew up in SE Minnesota. In grade school, my class mates always wanted me to draw something for them, but I never really pursued improving any artistic ability I might have had after that. I majored in mathematics in college and received a commission into the Air Force which ended up occupying the next 30 years of my life.
When I retired, I started dabbling in this medium again. I took drawing and composition classes at Clark College. I have since taken oil painting workshops from Michael Orwick, Thomas Kitts, Bill Cramer, and Jennifer Diehl – all amazing artists.
I consider myself a ‘newbie’. I learn something new every time I put paint brush to canvas. I am experimenting. If what I paint pleases some one, I am delighted. Learning what my outlook and expression looks like is what this is all about for me.
I’m grateful to be a part of the NOPG community of incredible artists who share their expertise so generously. Like an old mentor of mine used to say, “Happy to be here!”
