BUD FIELDS

Born and raised in rural Oklahoma, my roots in the land and nature run deep. These are my best and favorite subject matter for paintings. I love nature and living close to the land, even though I live far from the rural life at this time. Landscapes, wildlife, western life and Native American portraits are the subjects that look back at you from my paintings. Mountains and the indigenous wildlife and the people who live and work there, or lived there at one time will always be my topic of artistic endeavor. One of my grandfathers was a Cherokee Indian and the other was an old trail-driving cowboy, back when the west was really wild, before Hollywood discovered it. With a heritage like this it is little wonder that these are my favorite subjects. Although I am mostly a self-taught artist, I do not advocate this as a means of learning to paint for the beginning artist.
